Congo DR come unstuck against Colombia
Not our day. Congo DR went down 1–0 to Colombia in the group stage. There's work to do now — but the group's not done, and there's still everything to play for.

Why it matters
Group stage, Group K — points on the line.

Colombia
The man Colombia look to when they need a spark — pace, directness and the kind of moments that decide knockout football.

Congo DR
The attacking spark this defence-first side will lean on for moments of quality.
Colombia are into the last 32. Job done in the group, and now the tournament really begins — one-and-done from here, every match a final.
Congo DR have squeezed through as one of the best third-placed sides. Not the comfortable route — but a place in the last 32 is a place in the last 32, and the knockouts don't care how you got there.
Nobody deserves to lose a game like this, and tonight it was Colombia. Level with Switzerland at 0–0 through 120 minutes in the last 16, they fell 3–4 in the shootout. Penalties don't measure the better team — only who's left standing — and that will be no comfort at all tonight. Some defeats you argue about; this one you just carry.
And there it ends. Congo DR fall to England 2–1 in the round of 32, and a summer of following them is over. It stings now — but what a ride it was, and there's no shame in going out swinging.
